Google Calendar

The Google Calendar integration syncs your calendars into River as CalendarEvent entities — linked to attendees, joined to projects, and visible to the AI for scheduling, briefing, and reasoning.

What it does#

  • Full calendar sync — events become CalendarEvent entities with attendees, location, description, and links
  • Multiple calendars — personal, work, and shared all in one place
  • Real-time updates — new events fire calendar.event.created, changes fire calendar.event.updated
  • Attendee linking — attendees automatically link to your Contact entities
  • Search — find events by participant, time, or title
  • Reschedule and create — from SpaceChat, via the Calendar App or calendar_* tools

Setup#

  1. Open Settings → Integrations → Google Calendar
  2. Click Connect Calendar and complete OAuth
  3. Pick which calendars to sync
  4. Choose where events land in your Dataspace (default: a Calendar Group)

What Calendar unlocks for AI#

A calendar is dense context. Once River can see it, every other surface gets smarter:

  • Morning briefings know what your day looks like
  • Inbox triage can prioritize emails based on who you're meeting today
  • Suggestion Tray can warn you about meetings with people you haven't talked to in a month
  • Auto-prep agents can generate a one-pager for every external meeting based on attendees, recent emails, and shared docs
  • Scheduling agents can find times across calendars and draft replies in your voice

Common patterns#

  • Meeting prep agent — runs the night before; for each external meeting, drafts a brief with the attendee's bio, recent emails, and shared context.
  • Standup synthesizer — runs after a recurring sync ends; reads the transcript and turns it into action items.
  • Schedule reminder — checks every morning; surfaces "you have a board meeting tomorrow and this email thread has gone silent."

Tips#

  • Connect both personal and work calendars — the AI is much smarter when it sees the whole day.
  • Enable contact linking so attendees automatically attach to your relationship graph.
  • Pair with Gmail and Contacts for the most powerful behavior — those three integrations together transform what the AI can do.
