Customizing River
Space Templates
A Space Template is a pre-configured Space — with the right Apps, Windows, Agents, and starter entities already set up — that you can spin up in one click.
Use templates when a given workflow has a known setup pattern. Instead of recreating the same set of Windows and tools each time, instantiate a template.

Custom templates#
When you've built a Space setup that works, save it as a template:
- Open the Space you want to template
- Click the Space menu → Save as Template
- Name it, write a description, choose visibility (just you, your team, or public)
The template captures:
- Apps that are pinned
- Window layout
- Sidebar configuration
- Linked Agents and Workflows
- Optional starter entities
Sharing templates#
Templates can be private, team-scoped, or published to the River template catalog (similar to Custom Apps). A great template you've built for, say, a product launch can be shared across your team — or with the world.
Tips#
- The fastest way to build a great template is to use a Space for a real workflow first, then save it once you've found the layout that works.
- For team Dataspaces, designate one person to maintain critical templates so they stay current as tools evolve.
